Student Spotlight

PC Karate Academy has an open door policy welcoming any students who wish to participate in any of it's classes no matter what their fitness levels, social background or ablement. Over the years Paul has taught successfully students with varying sport disablements, students with amputees and students with behavioural concerns. Several Doctors within the West Midlands send their patients to the Academy to improve their fitness levels, concentration, confidence, self-esteem, focus, co-ordination and improvement in their Anger management.Due to lack of exercise in children of today obesity is a concern for health professionals and parents, all classess focus on developing student's fitness levels and mainatains focus on weight management through advice on nutrition and regular monitoring of student progress. PC Karate has experience in supporting parents and their children in all life challenges.                                                                                                          George's Parents: It was recommended that George take up karate by George's physiotherapist. I was hesitant at first, but after talking to Paul I realised that he had experience in teaching children with Dyspraxia and he made sure our expectations were realistic and goals set for George were achievable.Since George has attended karate his overall fitness has improved significantly as has his co-ordination and stamina. His self confidence has grown as also his confidence in what his body can do. He has even been confident enough to deal with a child who was bullying him at his school. Karate has definately helped George and we look forward to a reassessment with the physiotherapist to see how much progress George has made.

Skye Siviter aged 7, Has been chosen by Sensei to be in the 'Student Spotlight because of her determination to do well despite having Cerebral Palsy since birth.

Mother Remembers: Skye. she was born at 28 weeks weighing one pound 15 oz. she was ventilated for 3 weeks and many of these weeks she had to be bagged that is when we think she had brain damage. we were told at the age of 4 she had cerebral Palsy, which effects her legs arms and the trunk of her body.  Skye also has one damaged kidney that works on 30 per cent at the moment. she is still very small for her age and her condition can go very much down hill from the age of 10 but if we keep her active this may reduce the effects of her condition, the family accepts that Skye will not become better as there is no cure for her condition and after consulting medical advice it was suggested that Skye may benefit through keeping her active that is why we choose karate and the best instructor around Paul Campbell, Skye loves the classes mainly because she is treated as a normal student and has others her age and gender to train with.                                                                                                                                              Karate has improved her balance and co-ordination and definately her confidence in being able to do kicks and punches very much has all the other students do.
